The 7 guy cheer section is a lot more entertaining than any cheer section any other CL team has, and a lot more dedicated. How many other students have went to away games to support their team? I certainly haven't seen any at USF. We poke fun at the opposing players and have fun, you're most likely an adult, you can handle it. On another note, Bethel has some of the biggest flippers in the conference hands down. Miller and Smith are among the best for sure. Also, haven't seen a bigger d bag in the league than Smith, besides maybe us fans. It was a great game last night. Bethel is the better team, more balanced, and probably would make a deeper run down at Branson. If you take Khone out of the mix USF would struggle to score. (IMO) Khone is the real deal, he pounded the ball inside and scored at the rim and got to the foul line. He is a 1st team all-conference player without a doubt, and POY potential. Are you seriously whining about the calls last night. Basketball 101, don't foul a jump shooter. Miller is one of the best outside shooter in the country, if you over play him he exploits you drawling contact on his shot. You call it "flipping", we call it smart, if you over play you pay. The USF defenders spent the night whining to the officials and I think the refs got tired of hearing them cry. Smith is one of the best defenders in the conference....period. He gets up in your shorts and does not leave. If that is what a d-bag is, I would have loved to have had couple of them on my team every year. That is the type of players you can go to battle with! You defend the posers, (the 7 man intermural choir) but diss on Smith? Seems shallow. The only people that find the 7 USF fans entertaining are the 7 USF fans. I usually sit in the parents section of USF and they don't even like you guys. Several suggestions, 1) Cheer for your team 2) Support the USF cheer leaders 3) Don't attempt to make yourself the focal point of the game 4) Each of you bring two of your friends (Other Students in your case because you probably don't have friends other than the other 7 so called super fans)to the game so that you can have a true student cheer section 5)Study the teachings of St Francis. Finally, Travis Smith is the kind of player that everyone hates except for the fans and players of the team he plays for. He plays with passion and doesn't care about what a bunch of wanna be second rate group of 7 super fans think.

If we aren't cheering for our team who are we cheering for? We keep things civil enough, Sister Elise was at the game Wednesday and had no problem with us. Our AD also makes sure to keep us in line. I know the players appreciate our support and honestly that's all that matters. Diss on us all you want, we are much more dedicated than any other group of students in the league.
Support the cheerleaders? What do you want us to do? We don't go to the game to watch the cheerleaders, we go for the basketball. Maybe I'll start a go cheerleaders chant next game for ya.
Good luck to all the teams tomorrow. I'll be out trying to find some friends.

I have to say, finally some action on here. Things haven't been this lively since the HU vs. Bethel posts from several years back. I love the spirit of debate between the USF student and whoever it is that is bashing him. As one who has put on the face paint, crazy outfits, and cheered loudly I applaud the USF guys who support and encourage their players. I have seen them in action and they are having a great time, I'm sure the USF players appreciate your support!! Have they gotten out of hand or gone over the line? I haven't seen enough to say but I would lean towards youth and exuberance and give them the benefit of the doubt. Keep doing what you're doing USF Crazies I can assure you the positives of supporting your team far outweigh the negatives of getting bashed on here. OH and I really enjoy and miss the snarky comments this discussion has created!!

Not sure who hoage is and why he comes to all of the USF games, but I hope he can learn to appreciate our passion for our team. Yeah, we may get a bit out of hand at times, but you don't see students at bigger universities being priests either. Only a couple more games I can attend this year given that I will be gone for baseball on all of the upcoming weekends, but I plan to bring it on the next couple Tuesdays!

Isn't this the Travis Smith that has a track record (both HS and College) of talking smack, and IMHO a zen-level purveyor of the ever-so-subtile 'grabwhileflop'? Despite the crickets and apologists on this board, he's the guy that was brought up as the trash talker at Grace and he's the 'oops' star in the Miller Injury Video. Guys like that are what they are...ya love them on your team.
I cannot imagine a better target for the Student Section(s).
Highly intelligent, clever student razzing of refs and opposing players makes the game especially entertaining. At any level. My favorite of all time was Bob Huggins and the Final 4 WV team getting killed by the Boilers at Mackey (pre-ACL Hummel)--his 2nd comment on post game radio show was "I know we played like we have never before been on the road today, but whoever that IU team is, they must really suck"
heh heh...

Pssst. hey brick...go to the thread, or the tape. Imagine you are from Goshen, or Grace, or anybody but BC. Watch it again, and watch that kid play...That one was on him. Or better yet, tie 'em on and go to an open gym and have a guy like a Oetting or Treadway or Khone dig in and seal you for about 2 seconds, you would see what its like to have a ref-sized little yapping poodle type flopper in the relationship.

Cougars13,
I totally appreciate your support of your guys, and that's coming from a Grace guy, although also a USF Graduate student. However I must say that since USF is a Catholic University, and in the Spirit of Saint Francis you really should be more priest-like. I mean that should be an expectation for any student of a Catholic University. You should don the garb of a Monk and accept a vow of silence. I AM TOTALLY KIDDING, you keep doing what you're doing, cheer, yell, scream, give the zebras heck, but most importantly support your guys/team in a POSITIVE manner. You will be missed by your comrades and team when you head south for baseball!!

Here's to hoping the Cougs make it to the National title game so I can watch em one more time!
