Grace's women's soccer team is off to its best start in program history at 7-0! The Lancers have outscored those first seven opponents 27-2 heading into games with Holy Cross and Indiana Tech before MCC play begins. Congrats to the Lancers!

7-0 is 7-0 no matter who you play

Well according to the MCC rating for this past week, I think 7-0 does matter who you play:
Mid-Central College Conference 1. Indiana Wesleyan University (0-0 / 3-1) 2. Spring Arbor University (Mich.) (0-0 / 2-4-1) 3. Marian College (Ind.) (0-0 / 5-0-1) 4. Grace College (Ind.) (0-0 / 6-0) 5. University of Saint Francis (Ind.) (0-0 / 2-5) 5. Taylor University (Ind.) (0-0 / 2-3)

They have played equally difficult schedules in the past and not made it to 7-0. I never made a claim that they were the best team in the conference. I was just congratulating the team for a nice start. Someone at IWU seems pretty jealous!

Agreed.
Congrats to Grace on a nice start. Soccer to me more than any other sport doesn't always supply the best team on that particular day with a win. A team with a decent defense can get a cheap goal and then hold strong enough to earn a victory. That to me makes winning streaks like what Grace has done to start the season all the more impressive.

No way, at this level the better team wins more often than not if there's not much of a talent spread, especially in women's soccer.
You see the lesser team winning more in just about any other sport like basketball, baseball, softball
I've seen many seasons of ranked women's soccer and can hardly think of anything I would call an upset on more than one hand
With that said, Grace has talent to beat all those teams, but really haven't had much of a test. But I do understand why knavel would be so excited about any Lancer team going this long without a loss!

Grace Women's soccer team is very young so in my opinion it is more important for the team to play easy teams and win and give the girls confidence, than to play a really tough schedule and come away with a 2-5 record and not have as much confidence. I think for more experienced team this would be maybe a waste of a non-conference schedule, but for a team like Grace this is good for them.

Agree to disagree Darth.
The only sport you listed where the less-talented overall team wins on average at a higher rate than soccer might be softball where a dominant pitcher can act in the same way as a solid soccer defense. They shut down the opponent and hope there team can squeak out a run.
I've seen many seasons of women's soccer as well and I would need both hands and feet to count the number of upsets I've seen. Even your beloved Wildcats have many times gotten a goal off a corner kick or a set piece and then packed in the defensive box for a low-scoring victory. I will admit it happens less on the women's side but it does indeed happen in my opinion.

I have enjoyed watching this Lancer team this year, and I am really excited about the future of Lady Lancer soccer. The teams they have played have a less than stellar combined record of 8-27-3. However, 7-0 still shows some consistency. Here is the schedule so far along with any comparable scores that I could find. opponent | record | Grace Score | Conference Opponents | Cincinnati Christian | 3-2-2 | 5-0 | | Concordia MI | 1-4 | 6-0 | | Trine | 0-6 | 5-0 | HU 5-0, Goshen 2-0 | Olivet | 2-3-1 | 2-1 | HU 3-1 | Marygrove | 1-3 | 6-0 | HU 0-1 | Oakland City | 1-3 | 1-0 | | St Francis, IL | 0-6 | 2-1 | Marian 6-1 | Holy Cross | 0-6 | 6-0 | Goshen 1-0 | Indiana Tech | 4-2 | | Bethel 1-0, Marian 3-0 |

Now 9-0 with a 1-0 win over Indiana Tech opponent | record | Grace Score | Conference Opponents | Cincinnati Christian | 3-2-2 | 5-0 | | Concordia MI | 1-4 | 6-0 | | Trine | 0-6 | 5-0 | HU 5-0, Goshen 2-0 | Olivet | 2-3-1 | 2-1 | HU 3-1 | Marygrove | 1-3 | 6-0 | HU 0-1 | Oakland City | 1-3 | 1-0 | | St Francis, IL | 0-6 | 2-1 | Marian 6-1 | Holy Cross | 0-6 | 6-0 | Goshen 1-0 | Indiana Tech | 4-2 | 1-0 | Bethel 1-0, Marian 3-0 |
Comparable scores in soccer may mean less than comparable scores in other sports (which means they aren't worth much) But I'll use them anyhow. so far, comparable scores indicate that Grace is better than Goshen, about the same as Bethel and Huntington, and behind Marian. The next game for the Grace women will be at home vs Bethel. I'm guessing this will be a really close game that could go either way.

Now 10-0 with a 1-0 win over Bethel opponent | record | Grace Score | Conference Opponents | Cincinnati Christian | 3-2-2 | 5-0 | | Concordia MI | 1-4 | 6-0 | | Trine | 0-6 | 5-0 | HU 5-0, Goshen 2-0 | Olivet | 2-3-1 | 2-1 | HU 3-1 | Marygrove | 1-3 | 6-0 | HU 0-1 | Oakland City | 1-3 | 1-0 | | St Francis, IL | 0-6 | 2-1 | Marian 6-1 | Holy Cross | 0-6 | 6-0 | Goshen 1-0 | Indiana Tech | 2-4 | 1-0 | Bethel 1-0, Marian 3-0 | Bethel | 3-5, 0-1 | 1-0 | | TOTALS | 13-42-3 | 35-2 | |
Next up for the Grace women is #12 IWU at IWU. This will be a huge test for them, and also only the second team they have faced so far with a winning record. (Cincinnati Christian is 4-3-2)

congratulations to the IWU women. They not only broke Grace's 10 game winning streak, they also are the first team to score more than 1 goal on Grace so far this season, and the first to shut Grace out.
I'm hoping that Grace will bounce back against Taylor on Weds.
